Our store, Yasuda Nenju, was founded by the first head of the family, Sojiro Fujiya, at the current location of the head office in the 3rd year of Tenna (1683) in the early Edo period. The guidebooks of the time, "Kyojaku" and "Kyoha Habutai," also stated that "there is a rosary shop at Teramachi Seiganji Temple (now Teramachi Rokkaku)." We are the tenth generation of the family to run the business.

Our shop is located on Teramachi-dori, which is easily accessible to many tourists in Kyoto. Not only customers who have been favored for a long time, but also those who have come to Kyoto sightseeing are purchasing our products. In the 2000s, the number of foreign tourists has been gradually increasing and it is a great opportunity to have more tourists to buy our products. Therefore, we started to prepare information in foreign languages for overseas customers.

In our shops we have noticed that many customers are not only looking for easy to buy accessories, but also for authentic prayer beads. Then, from the time when requests came from sites that were sending information regarding our products to overseas and the opportunity to ship prayer beads overseas increased, we are trying to change the situation where only people who come to Kyoto can buy it by starting to consider about cross-border EC. Therefore, we asked j-Grab Inc., which operates in line with our purpose, to build a cross-border EC site using a national subsidy.

We didn't expect buyers to appear at early stage, but we got the result that even the expensive items could be sold relatively early. Currently, due to the influence of the new coronavirus, we are experiencing a situation where we have to be patient this year, but since we started cross-border EC a little before this corona virus, once the new coronavirus has settled down, we would like to try to convey to the world not only our products, but also our thoughts about them.
