As KIMONOdressjapan had achieved some success on the EC mall eBay, they were considering moving to their own website and decided that they needed to create proper explanations and content for the nature of the kimono product. they felt it necessary to consult with an expert in this field and get their support.
At the same time, they attended SME events to find a specialist in cross-border EC. As a result, they were able to improve the efficiency of their eBay and Magento operations by introducing an extension that allows them to link their sites with EC malls.
At the same time, content marketing required to sell their products was carried out.
They were able to secure a grant through j-Grab, which allowed them to do this with a small investment.

KIMONOdressjapan introduces vintage kimono as "kimono" to people abroad, some of which are arranged to be worn, and uses the proceeds to increase the number of people who can enjoy Japanese culture both at local Japan and abroad at large, and to bring ancient textiles and dyeing back to life. We want those who purchases products from us to enjoy the one-of-a-kind Japanese fabric that is unique to them.
As for cross-border e-commerce, we started a little earlier than 2016 when the world started to become aware of cross-border EC. At that time we started with Yahoo Japan for domestic sales and eBay for international sales. We're still doing that today. And as I built up a track record of trading, my credibility and followers increased, the number of repeat purchases by those who liked the product also increased.
Therefore, we started to want to create a community called KIMONOdressjapan through communication with overseas customers by having our own cross-border EC site that we manage it ourself instead of just selling at the EC mall. At the cross-border EC event held by the Japan SME Support, we had get to know about j-Grab which is a company that build cross-border EC site, and we had asked j-Grab to build and support KIMONOdressjapan.
Last year, we started selling at department stores, we are working on not only for online outbound but also offline inbound. The first half of this year has been affected by the new coronavirus, but once things have settled down we hope to be able to meet the expectations of those who love Japanese culture again.
